Community at ‘Mamaebana Community Library connected to the DPE head office through zoom on their own from computers in the library. “We are school children now….” said Mrs ‘Mamosili Thejane, Chairperson of Sebelekoane High School Board and the ‘Mamaebana Community Library user taking instructions from Tšepo Marasi, DPE IT Support Technician to connect to the main office.
“Unless you have connected to the internet you may not get to zoom…” said Marasi to the enthusiastic communities at ‘Mamaebana. Marasi told the participants that they must put the computer on, connect to the internet and join zoom meeting using the meeting ID provided.
Challenged and teased by Mosala Mokutlulu, the DPE Peace Education Researcher already connected to the meeting on what they are doing at ‘Mamaebana community library, ‘m’e Lirontšo responded “we are so excited…. we are learning to use computer to connect to the world….”.
Having observed amazing community enthusiasm, Lisbet Kristensen of the Denmark Lesotho Network, asked the communities how they feel following the session. “We are excited” they said. After being anxious whether to speak in Sesotho or English ‘m’e Lirontšo thanked DPE and DLN for the wisdom to enlighten rural and hard to reach communities through community libraries.
