In its movement of mobilizing youth registration and re-registration Development for Peace Education (DPE) was invited to a soccer match in ha Mapotsane at Mohale’s hoek constituency and a soccer tournament in Thaba-Tseka Katse on the 9th of February 2025 bringing fun and games in order to attract more youth and encourage them to register themselves with IEC.
Both of the activities were a success, in Katse people came with their National Identifications Cards from different villages namely; Nkhokhoba, Makhoabang, ha Theko, Khohlontšo, ha Ramokoatsi, ha Khenene and Sephareng to support the game and to register with IEC. However in Mohale’s Hoek, the event was supported by one village but people showed up in good numbers, approximately two hundred youth.
DPE does this work to assist IEC’s initiative to clean voters roll by registering and re-registering citizens, and it is powered by European Union and European Partnership for Democracy. Lastly implemented by Development for Peace Education in five districts namely: Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek,Quthing, Qacha’s Nek and Thaba-Tseka.
